Boo.

Rather than some typical Halloween pic, I am giving you one of my favorites, entitled "Guy notes." Thanks, Sandy, for sending it to me.

Emily & Reece: wish I was there to scare the shit out of you. Miss those good times.

Have fun today and eat some candy.

Why I'm Still Tired From the Weekend

My mom brought Reece up for the weekend and we had a great time, albeit a short visit. It's been nearly three months since I've seen anyone in my family and I think I'm correct in saying that Reece has grown more than any of them in that time. The boy is so tall and even cuter than he was when I saw him in August. Mom and I tried our best to keep up with him all weekend. A ten-year-old boy needs lots of time outside to run and play, you know.

Belated, But Happy Birthday, Sandy!

I'd even written it on my calendar and everything, but still missed it. Hope you had a good day with your family and they did something special for you! Thanks for being my pal.

A Short Thursday Check-In

I have very, very few complaints about how things are done at the University of Missouri. It's a great school, really, and they seem to have it together when it comes to administration and organization. So, I was surprised when I encountered a ridiculous situation yesterday. I noticed on my recent paycheck stub that I was still being charged for a parking spot in the garage near the building in which I worked before becoming a TA. I stopped in at the Parking office yesterday to straighten it out, IN PERSON, since I thought that would be the most effective way to get the situation handled, and when I talked to the young girl at the front desk, she went to the next cubicle and talked to someone else about the situation and then came back to me and told me that I had to e-mail this person whose name she'd written on a post-it. I had to request, by e-mail, that they stop the payroll deduction for the parking space. The person I needed to e-mail was the person in the next cubicle! I'm standing right there, in person. I thought that was a bit ridiculous that I had to go home and e-mail the person who was on the other side of the cubicle where I was just standing! Bureaucracy at work.

Today is my every-other-Thursday-off, so I am staying home and working on a paper that's due next Wednesday. If I get it finished today I will jump for joy. I also intend to watch a DVD. I have two waiting for me but not enough time for both, yet I couldn't stand not having Netflix because I fantasize about having enough free time to watch movies. Silly me.

I've been seriously considering going for my PhD in Archival Studies, but two days ago I decided that I've had enough schooling for a while. I still plan to work on a master's in Art History, but not a PhD. After I graduate next May, I need to get on with my life - that is, I need to start having a life besides school. It's been so long I'm not sure if I know how to actually have a normal life, but I'm willing to give it a shot. Until then, I keep counting the days until Thanksgiving break!
